The Murray Street Bridge Seismic Retrofit and Barrier Rail Project will strengthen the bridge to better resist seismic forces by installing additional pilings and supplemental structural elements with deck widening and barrier replacement. The state-mandated project involves foundation work on driven piles, barrier rail replacement, bicycle lane and sidewalk widening, signing and striping, and utility coordination for the Murray Street Bridge (Wood’s Lagoon Bridge). This is the last of our City bridges to be retrofit to current seismic standards. Estimated construction cost: $24 million.
The project is currently awaiting final certification for right-of-way and the issuance of permits from the regulatory agencies. The revised timeline has all permitting and right-of-way issues expected to be resolved soon with an advertisement for bid anticipated early in 2023.
This timeline estimates ground-breaking not before the summer of 2023.
Estimated start/finish: summer 2023/late summer 2025
